On a basic level, I think Dave Ramsey can do no wrong. He’s taught me and my wife as well as several friends pretty much all we know about money, finances and how it relates to the Bible. I absolutely love what he stands for in life and his business.

He’s built an outstanding tribe and I take notes from anyone that can build something as incredible as he has.

EntreLeadership (affiliate link) is awesome.

The Synopsis

Let me summarize the best I can and keep this short. EntreLeadership is an incredible book about building and growing a business, the ins and outs of hiring, firing, taxes, customer service, employee relations and much more. It’s a one-stop shop for anything you need in terms of running a business.

It’s also very conversational. The reading was like talking with Dave (I assume) and even the complicated parts seems astonishingly simple to understand. I was really intrigued at how it fit his personality so well.

On top of that, it was very bite size. And by that I mean that the chapters seemed to fly by since the reading was so easy. It was loaded with information but organized so well that it was very manageable.

Aesthetic Wise

As a designer, I pay attention to the details of things such as the cover, fonts, spacing, margins, etc. Many of the newer books are doing a better job of this than ones published even 10 years ago. This has a huge impact on the readability and intake of information. It’s much easier to read something with decent sized font and line spacing; therefore, increasing our ability to understand it.

That said, I’m a huge fan of the logo, color selection and font choice. The margins were beautifully done with just enough padding to keep each page to a manageable length. When combined, it really showed the power that this book demands and it’s ability to stand out from the rest of the books in it’s category.

The Downsides

The only thing that was missing in this for me was the real ability to start at the ground floor. Everything I got from the book seemed to be geared to companies that had at least a decent amount of income and maybe 2-3 employees. While I don’t think that was the intention, it didn’t start as ground level as I needed. 2 things to note about this are:

  • I realize it’s not a marketing book and that it covers much more than just that subject. It’s a great book on how to help build an incredible culture, which is key.
  • It could be that I’m in a profession that requires a bit different approach than the book offered. I’m not sure of that, but I want to give the benefit of the doubt that Dave really intended this to be for people that are still a one man show.

Overall

In as few words as possible, EntreLeadership is a must have book for all business owners. – Click to Tweet
